A friend of mine had to put down there dog that they had for - TopicsExpress

A friend of mine had to put down there dog that they had for several years because of illness. I presented him a poem that I had written for my son several years ago. My friend read it and placed his own dogs name in the poem. It made me feel good that he thought enough of the poem that he would do that. They enjoyed the poem as I enjoyed originally writing it. I wrote it to show that people do have a connection with there pets. I felt the same when I had to put my cat down 8 months ago. Everyone that has a pet may have felt the same or have had similar feelings. I hope you enjoy this poem remembering a favorite pet. Wheezy My Friend it is your time to REST When we met I knew I was blest We became friends I brought you home Never again would you have to roam We would be buddies and I your Dad I would look after you when you are sick and sad I said I would be your friend And be there for you to the end What you gave me I could never compare The true love that that only we could share In silence and presence you need not speak The joy you gave me was never bleak You saw me through my deepest sorrow The love you gave me was on the borrow I could never give you the interest I owe A love of a friend is hard to bestow Friends like you are few and far between Gentle and loving much more than a Queen Sickness overtook my friend She remained loyal to the end Even through all of her inward pain I never heard her once complain The day came I knew we would part Wheezy my friend, you will remain in my heart The biggest decision of my life Pained me and cut me like a knife People around me helped me when I weep I was vulnerable when I gave you eternal sleep I cast your ashes into the breeze They were carried to the meadows and to the trees The flowers and grasses welcome you home This is where you can run, play or roam When I visit I shall bring my goods And camp with you in Wheezy’s Woods You have always given me your best Wheezy My Friend is your time to REST Blair Larson 10/2005
