A grandparent asks our group: My husband & I are helping our single daughter to raise our almost 3 year old granddaughter Aurora. She was first diagnosed with SPD (mixed, mostly hyposensitivity) a year ago when the school district started weekly home visits. She has no social deficits, she understands speech at an average level for her age, but shes still not talking. Were starting speech therapy & trying to find a theraputic preschool (vs. daycare). She uses some non-verbal communication (pulling, gesturing & of course crying), says the abcs, counts to 20, says about a dozen words when prompted (no, up, out, mama, tv, sippy, yogurt, eat, etc), makes some animal sounds & sings all the words to several songs. She babbles to herself in the mirror, using a lot of inflection. Will she ever talk? Im worried, frustrated, stressed-out & scared. Thanks.
