A great place for summer - Pobierowo, Poland Pobierowo is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Rewal, within Gryfice County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland. The village has a population of 1084. A popular resort area, it is centered in this beautiful village surrounded by green pine forests, and close to many attractions. Pobierowo is intrinsically entwined in the history of the area south of the Baltic Sea, which in the year AD 1040 was first named Pomerania, and is now area in modern-day Poland and Germany dating back more than 10,000 years. The area has been governed by the Poles, the Teutonic Knights, Sweden, Prussia, and after WWI, became part of the Second Polish Republic (Polish Corridor). In 1939, the area was annexed as part of Nazi Germany, and was known as Reichsgau Danzig-West Prussia. The Nazis deported or mass-murdered Jews, Poles and Kashubians in Pomerania, planning to eventually exterminate Jews and Poles and Germanise the Kashubians. After WWII, the area was divided between Germany and Poland, within Poland being further divided between West Pomeranian Voivodeship and Pomeranian Voivodeship. Today, it enjoys immense popularity as a resort community, with a variety of nearby attractions - parks, historical sites, spas, and recreational areas to enjoy.
