A group of SSCS year 8 students accompanied 15 year 6 students - TopicsExpress

A group of SSCS year 8 students accompanied 15 year 6 students chosen from our feeder primary school to take part in a weekend of activities at Thurston Outdoor Activity centre. The aim of the weekend was for the year 8 students to act as mentors/buddy’s to the year 6 students so that they knew some of the SSCS students when they started in year 7. A great time was had by all involved, we Ghyll Scrambled, kayaked and went caving, along with the usual Thurston traditions of jumping the jetty, Thurston Olympics and team hide and seek. The staff were very impressed by how well the students mixed with each other and the teamwork that was demonstrated throughout the weekend. A big well done to the winning team Grizdale and the girls in Goats Water for winning the best dormitory award.
