A head-on collision on Mountain Road last night claimed the life of one of the drivers. According to Maj. Michael J. Trice of the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, the preliminary investigation reveals that a 2011 Toyota Camry was traveling west on Mountain Road and crossed into the eastbound lane, striking an eastbound 2012 Hyundai Veloster head-on. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai was taken to VCU Medical Center for treatment of injuries received in the crash. The fatality took place around 11:45 p.m. just east of New Farrington Court. Trice said investigators are still collecting information and consulting with the Medical Examiner to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic incident. As soon as proper notification can be made to the family of the deceased driver, Trice said the identity will be released.
