A legend in the Submarine community has cleared the final channel marker and set sail on Eternal Patrol. God has blessed my life in many ways. Often I find I have lived and done things at a most opportune time in history. My Active duty Navy career of six years ran from 1975 to 1981. This allowed me to slip beneath the surface on at least one of every class of Nuclear Powered Fast Attack Submarines built during the Cold War. I sailed with the guys who sailed with the guys from WWII. While I never sailed on a diesel Submarine, there were still a few around and the stories of life on them were still being told first hand. Some of the best of the best Submarine Sea Stories were put down in pen by Bob Dex Armstrong. You can read them here: olgoat/substuff/dex01.htm
