A little rant... As a parent when your children play sports, most I hope are there for their children to have a good time, learn sportsmanship (how to win and lose with grace) , to be a good teammate etc. But what I heard tonight hurts my heart. A parent was telling me how disappointed they were to lose a great player they had and instead now they are stuck with a new player on the team. That new player happens to be our son. Mostly from what I could gather they are upset that another player was called up and not their son and they feel, somehow it is because of R.J. Whatever the reason, between what was said and comments I overheard, I am really disappointed by behavior from these parents. The conversation took a different tone when by the looks on their face, they figured out that R.J. was my son. Bullying is an awful thing, but when it comes from other parents, there is no excuse. Be an inspiration and a role model for children, not the person they learn to bully from.
