A little video clip from today when we first arrived at the pole. All of the documentation cites these totem poles as Salish, however they are indeed from our Kwakwakawakw design traditions. We also got to see some of the news clippings which showed that local First Nations chiefs & Elders were there to oversee the proper protocols for raising these monumental works in their territories. Such a great history of our artistic traditions affirming historic relationships while acknowledging the beginning of new relationships.
