A man and woman have been charged after allegedly locking themselves to a drum, blocking road access at Boggabri. About 8am on Thursday 18 September 2014, police attended the intersection of the Northern Loop Road and Leard Forest Road after they received information two protestors had allegedly locked themselves to a metal drum partially filled with cement. This caused obstruction to traffic with vehicles forced to take a 30km diversion to enter the mine at another point. The pair refused to unlock themselves when requested by police. About 5.30pm Police Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit attended the scene and the protesters were released. They were arrested and taken to Narrabri Police Station. They were each charged with pedestrian obstruct traffic and disobey police direction. They were granted bail to appear at Narrabri Local Court on 28 October 2014.
