A moderate flood warning remains in place for the Mitchell River. Minor warnings are still in place for the Gippsland Lakes, Thomson and Latrobe rivers, while a final minor flood warning has been issued for the Avon River. In the 24 hours to 9am Wednesday, general rainfall totals of around 20 to 30mm were recorded with an isolated 72mm recorded at Dargo. Isolated rainfall totals of 10 to 15mm have been forecast for the remainder of Wednesday. Minor to moderate flooding is occurring in the lower reaches of the Mitchell River catchment. As a result of heavy rain in the Gippsland catchments over the last week, elevated lake levels are currently being observed. With forecast rainfall during Wednesday, further rises in lake levels are possible. In the 24 hours to 9am Wednesday rainfall totals of up to 10mm were recorded in the Thomson River catchment. No significant rainfall is expected for the remainder of Wednesday. Renewed rises are occurring at the Thomson River at Sale Wharf. Water levels at this location may peak around the minor flood level (2.4m) overnight Wednesday into Thursday. Renewed areas of minor flooding are occurring in the Latrobe River catchment around Rosedale. Stream levels have peaked and are now receding throughout the Avon River catchment.
