A must-read for parents. This is my take: Let your children be children. Let them explore and discover their own selves - their strengths, their flaws, their own way of thinking, or even their own sense of style. Our sermon should always be age and personality appropriate - what may work for your eldest, may not be applicable your youngest - I realized this only recently. Personally, I dont coddle my 3 kids - in fact, my mom always tells me na Cariño Brutal daw ako. Maybe its because I just want to toughen them up and ready them for the real world - a world I may not be a part of once theyre all grown up, and thats a scary thought - to not to be there for them when they need you. So I take comfort in noting that at least, Ive somewhat prepared them in a way. Ann Landers says: It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that will make them successful human beings. I agree.
