A new ending for the novel Ivanhoe. What irritates me about the novel Ivanhoe by Walter Scott is the ending. Why should Ivanhoe after so much duel, trouble, wounds and pain,..fail so badly in his judgment and choice the bland Lady Rowena in stead of the wonderful passionate caring jewish Rebecca. To make good the damage and end this long maintaining mistake I like to rewrite the ending chapter of the novel. So, hey kids. listen to me: The day Rebecca and her family are leaving for the holy land, Ivanhoe acknowledges being an idiot, not falling on his knees for his great love, the beautiful lady Rebecca. He confessed to Lady Rowena that he would never be a good husband to her, and that she deserved someone much better. He said farewell to his father and the rest of the family, ran out of the castle to reach Rebecca. He stopped Isaac of Yorks caravan, and told him that he loves Rebecca more then his own life, and he would convert to judaism if he got the permission and asked for her hands. Despite some reservations Isaac blessed them both. The caravan was an year to come to the holy land. This time not for the Crusade, but for love that Ivanhoe saw the holy land. Rebecca and Ivanhoe got married, lived happily together with their 12 children. …. Now if you behave, think great, and let your fantasy be free, you may find your own Rebecca or Ivanhoe. Goodnight:-)
