A note for my non-police retired friends on my facebook page. Today, a Federal Judge in Detroit ruled in favor of bankruptcy for the City of Detroit. Im sure it will be in your local papers and newscasts. The kicker for me and my colleagues is that the pensions we have worked years for may be kicked under the bus to a small (hopefully) or larger degree. Fortunately, I can bear a kick in the financial pocket, but Im so concerned for my fellow police and fire retirees that I could cry. Let this be a lesson to all to watch over those you elect to public office. Most of those who run for such office do for one of three reasons: (1) Whats in it for me. (2) an overwhelming ego. (3) (1) and (2) above.
