A phrase I say to myself about...(well if Im being totally honest) - TopicsExpress

A phrase I say to myself about...(well if Im being totally honest) 20 times a day...Nicole, Let it go. I say it throughout my day as a reminder after replaying an incident, reading a Fb message or post, email, or in daily interactions with my kids, family and friends. There are always those people, situations, comments, statements or interacts that just get you and me just a little fired up inside. Just because we feel justified in firing back or right in our stance doesnt give us the freedom to respond. Sometimes (most times) we must let it go. When we arent getting our need met we often feel like it is okay to respond quickly... Its usually when the most damage is done and it is the response that will require an Im sorry later. Someone elses actions always will require a reaction from you... You get to decide if it will be positive or negative. I usually say, Am I worried about their growth or my own? Followed by: Let it go! Letting it go now doesnt mean you are wrong and they are right (although sometimes it does)... It just means you are going to be intentional with the words you choose to respond with later. Your age, your experience or situation (or perceived understanding of either) should never give you permission to just say what we feel. Feelings are never a good indicator of how we should respond, Let it go! ~Philippians 4:8 is a great verse to memorize that helps keep me in check. I blow it ALL THE TIME. The next time Im faced with a Let it go situation, I pray Im a little quicker in letting it go simply because Ive made it a daily rhythm in my life to be more concerned about my character than someones elses.
