A recent staff “Information Report” (copy attached) carries spin-doctoring to a new level. Residents of the host communities and their supporters should now try to clarify that “Honour the Contract” (our mantra to date) is not linked strictly to the 25 year term. We want to clarify that it is mainly linked to the “facilities” – the FEP/WSF. Thus, the following is suggested… Key Message: “Honour the Contract with the Community by Keeping the FEP/WSF” Approach: Let’s ensure that the main message is delivered upfront by all participants at all tables; ideally before there is any discussion at any table. Secondary message: “We’re here because we thought HRM wanted to hear from the residents of HRM, including the host communities. Now – based on what we see in the recent staff report – it appears that HRM staff don’t want to hear us at all. We don’t blame National as they delivered an honest report. HRM staff have some explaining to do.” Please circulate to all members. We look forward to seeing the usual loyal folks as well as any others who can make it. Wed night is the Eastern Shore 2nd session – at the new Porters Lake Community Centre on Innovation Drive (next to the new high school, just to the right as you head into Porters Lake off Exit 20). The Halifax one (Thurs evening 7-9 pm at the Halifax Forum – park on the Almond St side and head to the smaller building to the right of the entrance to the old Forum) is very important. The press will probably be there and many host community residents reside in the legitimate “catchment area” for that meeting. WE ARE WINNING THIS WAR – WE JUST HAVE TO COUNTERACT THE LATEST SPIN BY HRM STAFF. Peter A. McInroy on behalf of the LOLA Alliance.
