A recent study published in the journal Nature Climate Change indicates Indonesia has overtaken Brazil as the #1 deforester in the world. The study has found that between 2002 and 2012 Indonesia lost approximately 15 million acres of its primary forest cover, and deforestation increased by almost 118,000 acres each year during that period, exceeding rates in any other tropical country.
