A response to tonights discussion over deleted posts and appropriate topics for the GUIH group page. Folks this page has been up for nearly 5 years now with a very simple objective. Providing a place for people to post memories from your childhood and in turn give other members the opportunity to comment and add their memories. Its really just that simple. There are many other Havertown related Facebook pages that deal with present day issues in Havertown. And the good news is this. If you dont like the 3 simple rules for posting topics here on GUIH, you can do what I did almost 5 years ago. Start your own Facebook group and spend the next 5 years of your life monitoring that page and trying your best to keep it free of spammers, business promotions and trolls who just like stirring the SH-T once in a while to get a rise out of people. And all while not making a single red cent to do just that. Please dont get me wrong. I didnt start this group with expectations of ever becoming rich and famous as result. It started our as a very simple idea. Posts some fond memories and maybe hear from a few old friends who have had similar experiences while growing up. Ive tried for almost 5 years now to keep it plain and simple. Call me a purist or a tyrant or jerk but until youve dedicated as much time and energy trying to keep something like this going for as long as I have ... Ya just dont know what youre talking about. The Growin Up in Havertown page has brought years of fond memories to literally thousands of people in the past 5 years. There are THOUSANDS of photos posted in our photos section and probably hundreds of thousands of topics and comments posted in that time. So before you jump to criticism over how the page is being handled today, take the time to consider what has gone into keeping a page like this going and growing in membership for nearly 5 years now. Thanks to all of the longtime members who have been and continue to be POSITIVE contributors to this page and who have honored my very simple request to keep posts relative to the simple, albeit purist theme of this group. Lord knows there are more than enough pages on Facebook for anything and everything else. Have a great night everyone. Gnight Pop.
