A small sinkhole opened up at 3rd and Eye St. Monday morning in Oleander due to a water main break around 2:30 a.m., the Bakersfield Public Works Department and the California Water Service Company reported. Crews were expecting to turn off the water main for three to four hours while repairs were made, disrupting water service to homes and businesses in the neighborhood starting around 6:30 a.m. No injuries were reported and no private property was damaged.
