CAAP said non-commercial flights will not be allowed at the NAIA during the maintenance except for emergency requirements. For our valued customers who will be affected by the system upgrade, please be advised that you may either claim for a refund or rebook to other flights on the same route, PAL said. PAL/PAL Express will also waive rebooking and fare difference charges for affected passengers. Please take note that refunds and re-bookings will be processed within 7 days from the original date of departure, the airlines said. Affected passengers may call PAL hotline at 855-8888 or PALEX reservations at 855-9000. In a phone interview with News Now, CAAP Deputy Director John Andrews said carriers were notified almost a month before the scheduled maintenance. They had more than enough time, but each one had to volunteer which flights [to] cancel, he said. The regular maintenance of Manilas radar system also led to cancellations of flights at NAIA in 2010. The radar system, which has been in place for about 10 years, is set to be upgraded by December 2015, Andrews added. anc.yahoo/news/74-flights-cancelled-due-to-radar-upgrade-063533537.html
