A warning to all hockey parents at community rinks... Tonight, I had to use some of my past training to take down a drunk guy trying to steal from the unattended locker room with kids & coaches hockey gear & personal belongings. Another dad (whos used to this, being a bar owner) confronted him when he saw him rifling through one of the bags. Drunk guy tried to bolt and I helped intercept him from another entrance. We realized this guy was potentially dangerous & were worried about all our kids who were just arriving. Drunk guy became aggressive verbally & physically, so we we had no choice but to take him down and pinned him down, while I called 911. I told them there were kids present & they dispatched 2 unis & 2 plainclothes, who arrived in about 5 min. They took him away, but unfortunately, the incident really scared some of the kids. So just a warning to parents...keep an eye out at all times when using unlocked public locker rooms. Unfortunately, there are jackasses out there waiting to cause trouble. (And Brian Chanyan & Corey Rosie...you can probably guess where I positioned myself & my knee...hahaha...)
