A well established Financial Services company is looking for a Accountant: Profit and Loss Sandton Minimum Requirements: • Qualified CA’s • 3 Years working experience • Understanding of financial markets, financial instruments and the financial services industry would be advantageous • Strong Ms Excel skills and understanding of IT systems and process would be advantageous Responsibilities: Product Controller • Produce a daily profit and loss report within deadlines • Reconcile Front Office Trader estimates to reported daily profit and loss and risk profit and loss and engage with the Valuation Group team • Provide applicable, relevant and insightful commentary on the daily profit and loss as well as any reconciliation differences, with input from Front Office where appropriate. This will require a knowledge and understanding of product valuation, market mechanics, instrument features and desk strategies/ positions as to how they can potentially impact Profit and Loss • Ensure all key controls are followed and have operated effectively, and that all risks are mitigated in the daily profit and loss function. • Where control deficiencies or significant Profit and Loss discrepancies are identified, ensure these are escalated to both the responsible Business Partner(s) and the GM – Head of Finance. • Identify areas for improvement of the control and risk framework for the Product Control function. • Investigate and ensure resolution of any discrepancies identified in the daily profit and loss report. • Liaise with Operations department regarding outstanding settlements etc. • Working closely with other Product Controllers, the Valuations Group and Market Risk to ensure smooth running of processes • Add value to the strategic vision of the Business Pillar. • Effective communication with Operations, IT, Front Office and Risk teams in resolving anomalies and ensuring practical resolution thereof. • Pro-active team player within the assigned Business Pillar as well as to the broader GM Stakeholders and the GM Finance Team. • Ability to explain and provide insightful reporting to Business Unit Heads, Head of Finance, CFO and other key stakeholders. Month End Accountant • Reconciling subsystems to the main ledger; • Preparing and analysing regulatory returns; • Preparing and analysing monthly financial information for management purposes; • Preparing and analysing monthly Income Statements and Balance Sheets; • Understanding the trading desk markets and products including accounting for these; • Obtaining detailed trading desk commentary on the month-on-month performance of the desk; • Preparation of trading desk dashboards and discussion of results with traders; • Liaising with internal/external auditors during the annual audits; • Performing various reconciliations and reconciling internal trades and subsystems to the main ledger. • Assisting with ad hoc projects; • Assisting with ad hoc queries from both front and back office; • Assisting RMB Central Finance with their financial reporting queries; • Guiding and influencing systems development for areas of responsibility; • Ongoing assessment of business process efficiencies; • Understanding the relevant desks’ Regulatory Capital requirements in terms of BASEL III If you have not heard from us within 2 weeks of your application please assume that you were not successful Forward Detailed CV to Haneli, quoting Reference No: CP000013 Email: [email protected]
