A year and a half ago I met a young singer named Alysha Brilla. Her voice and the unique sound of her music enthralled me. I soon became one of her biggest fans. A couple of weeks ago she released her second album, Womyn. The message of the title track illustrates what a great artist Alysha is. It illustrates her songwriting skills where she paints a picture with her words to illustrate a message that is not only important to her but is a strong anthem for all womyn everywhere. The music video which Alysha created for Womyn again shows that she is a true artist. The brushstrokes are broad and bold. Alysha captures a truly diverse cross-section of womyn to accompany the track. This video was recently submitted for consideration for a Juno Award next spring. I think it deserves a nomination.
