A580 Bus Priority Package – Roadworks Update Urban Vision, - TopicsExpress

A580 Bus Priority Package – Roadworks Update Urban Vision, who are responsible for Traffic Management on behalf of Salford City Council, have received further updates from the contractor, Galliford Try, on the programme of works taking place on the A580 East Lancashire Road, as part of the A580 bus priority works. Before setting out those arrangements we would again like to take the opportunity to apologise for the significant congestion, particularly on Monday 29 September, on the A580 and surrounding roads arising from the resurfacing works. Monday’s issues were caused in part by the schedule of works overrunning on site following the contractor trying to maximize the amount of works completed within the off peak timeslot. The overrun was also compounded by the emergency repair of a burst water main on Moorside Road and roadworks on the M60 that contributed to more traffic than usual using the A580. Urban Vision has discussed the site works and congestion issues with the contractor and steps are being taken to prevent a repetition for the remainder of the works which are planned for early next week (details below). This includes a number of traffic management arrangements that will hopefully improve the situation whilst the A580 bus priority works are ongoing, including monitoring live network conditions in advance of the works starting such as the emergency closures of surrounding roads. Unfortunately, as with any major infrastructure works, some degree of congestion is inevitable but we would like to reassure you that all is being done to minimize disruption to road users. Planned Works: Resurfacing works will take place on the A580 East Lancashire Road at the junction of Eccles Road on Monday 6 October and Tuesday 7 October. In order for Galliford Try to complete these works safely, two lanes will be closed at off peak* times (Manchester & Liverpool bound) on the A580 East Lancashire Road on the approach to this junction. One lane will remain open in both directions and manually operated temporary traffic lights will be in place at the junction to cater to traffic flows. Traffic management plans can be downloaded here: Monday 6 October; Tuesday 7 October. Delays are expected while these works are taking place and road users are advised to use alternative routes where possible. *Off peak times: 10am to 5.30pm Manchester bound and 7.30am to 3.30pm Liverpool bound.
