AAPSU TO CALL 60 HOURS ARUNACHAL BANDH FROM AUGUST 12 -Tawang Vigilance Tawang, July 18,2014. The apex student body of the state has decided to launch another 60 hour Arunchal bandh from August 12, to strengthen its leverage against the state government. Speaking to Mon Tawang Vigilance over telephone, a highly placed reliable source informed that the decision was taken in a meeting convened by AAPSU at hotel Donyi Polo Ashoka today. The decision came today after a meeting of AAPSU, District student unions and all community based students unions of the state. AAPSU decided to mount pressure on the government and go forth with its third phase of 60 hours state bandh, after a failed negotiation with state education minister………. Recently. The meeting with the education minister had ended in a deadlock with AAPSU failing to persuade the Nabam Tuki Government to agree to its demands. Though the minister agreed to release the student’s stipend soon, it fended off the other 6 demands of the union. Meanwhile, AAPSU has decided to form three committees headed by AAPSU President, General secretary and vice President respectively. The committees will tour every district of the state and hold interaction meetings with the local denizens wherein the 7 pointed charter of demands of the union will be discussed and people’s opinion on the bandh call will be sought. “The union decided to call off the bandh call if the denizens don’t deem its demands fit”, stated the source. An AAPSU committee will reach Tawang and convene a student-public interaction meeting probably on 27th of this month.
