ABABU IN ODM TO STAY Six MPs from Western Kenya have rallied behind Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba who is in the eye of a storm with his party ODM in which he is accused of working for Jubilee government. The MPs John Waluke (Sirisia) Silverse Anami (Shinyalu) Chris Omulele (Luanda) Rachel Ameso (Kakamega Women Representative) Samuel Arama (Nakuru Town West) and Charles Geni (North Mugirango) have dismissed claims that Namwamba is a mole working for the Jubilee government to undermine ODM from within. The MPs while addressing a press conference at Parliament buildings have called for party elections to be held immediately. The legislators further challenged the ODM top brass to reveal whether there is a criteria used to know “who is more ODM than the others”. The MPs’ remarks signal a further strain in relations between ODM’s top brass and sections of party members opposed to the calls for a referendum. The MPs have also taken issue with the silence on fresh party polls after the abortive National Delegates Commission elections that were held on February 28. Namwamba on Sunday said in a perceived attack on ODM party leader Raila Odinga, that the opposition leader has no moral authority to call for the disbanding of the IEBC through a referendum yet his party was unable to hold democratic elections.
