ADOPTION TAILS: Meet Bonnie! When Bonnie came to our shelter, she was in poor shape. We assumed her to be about 12 years old based on her teeth, appearance and general behavior. Despite her age and health issues, Bonnie was adopted by Susan to act as companion to a heartbroken little dog named Smoochie. You see, Smoochie had just lost his long-time canine companion and nothing could coax him from his depression. Until Bonnie. Susan brought Bonnie to the vet for initial blood work and a teeth cleaning, and they discovered that Bonnies thyroid levels were off! Once on medication for her misbehaving thyroid, the change in Bonnie was like night and day! Her eyes grew bright, her hair grew long and lovely, and her energy level bounced back, allowing her to sprint around the yard and play with stuffies to no end! (Were told she never goes anywhere without one!) It turns out that Bonnie was actually closer to 6 years in age! Were told that Smoochie is having the best time ever - out and about, licking Bonnie all the time and a tail thats always wagging. He doesnt leave her side and she is great with him. According to Susan, hes a completely different dog now that his sweet Bonnie has accepted him in to her life!! HSBC staff couldnt be happier to hear it!
