ADVERTISEMENT VACANCY CIRCULAR NO 5 OF 2013- (REF: JA06VB) VACANCY: PROJECT DIRECTOR – POWER EXPERT Applications are invited from suitably qualified citizens for the above position in the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Coal Development Unit, Gaborone. Salary: F2 Leave: 30 working days per annum. Benefits: 1. Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and Employee pays 50%). 2. For new entrants, a contract of 24-36 months with gratuity payable at the rate of 25% upon end of contract. 3. Scarce skill allowance at the rate of 40% of basic salary. Qualifications: BSc (Electrical Engineering) MBA would be an added advantage. Experience: At least 14 years’ relevant experience in management of mega projects, preferably power infrastructure. Main Purpose of the Job: • To facilitate monetization of Botswana’s vast coal resources with particular emphasis on the generation of power for both domestic use and export. Key Performance Areas: In liaison with the rest of the team; • Undertakes all upfront activities that will ensure an accelerated monetisation of coal. • Develops of Robust Bankable feasibility studies for possible power export markets and sea routes. • Identifies (through procurement) firms for provision of consultancy services. • Oversee consultants contracts • Reviews project risks and identification of mitigating measures. • Prepares reports for the main stakeholders. • Prepares and manages project funds Competencies 1.
