AFTER THE OFFENSIVE… Homes left in ruins, Possessions buried in dust, Survivors bathed in blood, Scrambling out of the ruins, The wounded soaked in blood, Shouldered to the Hospitals! Lifeless bodies…Lifeless bodies, Bodies of the unwrinkled, Of the young blood drained out of the freshness, Of the elderly denied of the joy of their prime, Parents picking up the bodies of their children, Children reaching out for the remains of the parents, A frightful sight to behold! Cries of distress filled the air, Faces veiled with despair and grief, Bodies trembling with hurtfulness, Many had drunk the water of bitterness! Hearts pierced with the arrow of terror, Bearing fresh scars of torment, A reminder of the offensive, Which took so much away, Leaving behind gloomy memories, Thoughts which oppress the breasts, Never to be hidden nor forgotten! (O Allah! Keep firm my brothers and sisters in faith, save them from every form of oppression and forgive the souls of the dead ones.)
