AN ALUMNUS OF FAKUNLE COMPREHENSIVE COLLEGE, OSOGBO WROTE: Im an Alumni of Fakunle and so are my brothers (3 of them), I mean real Alumni (from JSS1-SSS3) so, nobody can be Fakunlites than me. We know what happen in our public schools then, we must not all forget that all public schools belong to the government, so Im very surprised that one PDP apologist is bringing up a dead matter, my greatest concern is not about the structure of the school, but about the quality of education, my complaint then when the school was first demolished had been met with re naming the unity school as Fakunle Unity School and meeting of the family of Baba Fakunle, Im very satisfied on that, kudos to the governor. To all those crying more than the bereaved here, may I remind you of what public schools used to be in our days? Fakunle is one of the best secondary schools in both the Old Oyo State and new Osun State, but did we get the quality of education that we required? The answer is NO! The environment wasnt conducive, we had classes with no windows and doors, when we come very early on Mondays or after a holiday what we saw then in our classes were a combination of human and goat faeces, smoked cigarettes or Indian hemp, have we forgotten so soon? In my 1st & 2nd term in SS1, there was no Physics teacher and in my SS2 1st & 2nd there was no Chemistry teacher, I never had reasons to go to the Laboratory for any Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science Practical until 3months to WAEC that our parents had to pay for sponsored ones, we used to carry chairs to school then and most of our mates have their shorts or shirts patched or stitched, most of our mates trekked to and from schools, so what is d basis of our condemnation! Has Aregbesola better the lots of the students? The answer is YES! He is building new schools, he gave free uniforms, free chairs & tables, paid WAEC fees, gives free Opon Imo to high school students, feeds the elementary school pupils every school day, equipped all laboratories, increased the amount of funds to schools, there by eliminating PTA fees and other fees. To any reasonable human being, this should be more important than the memory of a school that some of us have not visited for decades. The children of the founder have embraced change and their demand of the memory of their father has been met by d government, even when it is a known fact that it is a government owned school. The truth is that change has come to governance in our state and I and majority of the people of the State of Osun are enjoying this change brought to us by Rauf Aregbesola’s administration. The government t may not be perfect on every side, but we are enjoying the giant stride of this administration. If we need any change now, it is at the Federal level, where we have so much and we have little to show for it. For the State of Osun, #RaufAregbesola is still the best man for the job. Below are pictures taken in some of the classrooms of the school before its demolition
