ANC Women’s League (NW) welcomes the arrests of suspects in the rape and killing of Mmanane Mainamo The North West African National Congress Women’s League welcomes the arrest of four suspects who are alleged to be behind the rape and brutal killing of Mmanane Mainamo, a 15 year old girl from Ottosdaal in the Ngaka Modiri Molema district. Mmanane was sent by her parents to fetch blankets at Irag – a nearby settlement in Ottosdaal, on Saturday, 3rd August 2013. She was found dead at a cemetery inside a grave the following day, Sunday, 04 August 2013. The ANC WL congratulates the swift and speedy action by the police who in a week managed to trace and arrest these perpetrators. We also thank the community of Ottosdaal for their assistance leading to the arrest of these criminals. The arrest of these criminals illustrates that the call by the ANC WL and our ANC led government of fighting crime and abuse against woman and children is yielding benefits. Our society is getting intolerant and tired about these inhuman, barbaric and senseless killing of innocent people, particularly woman and children. The ANC WL in North West is steadfast with the hosting of the Awareness Campaign, on the 18 August 2013, to protest against Women and Child Abuse.
