APC decries impeachment notice to Nyako over gross embezzlement * Lawmakers say that Nyakos worst impeachable offence is the mass illegal deduction of civil servants salaries for political sponsorship The APC National Chairman Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has described the move against the governor as “unfortunate”. He said: “Well, it is unfortunate, but we are already looking into it on how to deal with the situation. “Let me give the legislators the benefit of doubt by saying I hope what they are doing is just a warning shot and it won’t go beyond that.” Asked if the APC was suspecting the PDP as the sponsor of the impeachment move, Odigie-Oyegun replied: “I cannot put it beyond them. Definitely, they are behind it because they have money to play with.” APC leaders on thursday met at Transcorp Hilton to find a way to save Nyako and his deputy from impeachment. Those who attended the meeting refused to brief the media on its outcome as they wore long faces. Nyako who is accused of embezzling billions of state resources including illegal deduction of workers salaries to fund political activities. The thursday meeting, it was gathered, resolved that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senate Minority Leader George Akume and Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso lead a contact and mobilization committee to help save the governor and build synergy with aggrieved political leaders from the state. Adamawa lawmakers maintained that of all the gross embezzlement of funds by the governor, the worst was his deduction of the salaries of poor civil servants for no just cause.
