APC vs PDP: Voters Registration Turned Violent In Osun, One Dead, Several Injured17.03.2014, 10:10 Politics Share this story One man killed, while four others sustained various degrees of injuries in Ile-Ife, Osun State, as a result of a clashes between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC) during the ongoing voters registration exercise in the state. Both of the rival parties are currently mobilising party members to ensure that registration of their supporters is completed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). According to Daily Trust, an 80-year-old man, Taiwo Ogundele, was gunned down as the result of the heated argument between APC and PDP supporters. The PDP has immediately accused the state Commissioner for Tourism, Alhaji Sikiru Ayedun, of storming the PVC registration centre with other thugs and attacking the PDP members. When the newsmen contacted the Commissioner for tourism he had denied his involvement in the drama. I dont know the man who died. I have no reason to kill anyone. I visited the area when I heard that there was crisis between supporters of PDP and APC and I persuaded them to be calm. I am surprised that PDP members are now trying to link me with the death of the man,he said. The police confirmed the incident, promised that the proper investigation into the matter will be done.
