AS JONATHAN FINALLY MEETS ASUU! After months of negotiations between the Federal government and ASUU, President Goodluck Jonathan is personally heading the dialogue between both parties. For nearly 130 days, varsities have been shut in an avoidable battle in which both parties have nothing to lose except the students and their sponsors. Ordinarily the president personally presiding over negotiations. However Im cautious in my optimism in the outcome of the parley. While Im at the same time hopeful that the meeting today will at least show an end in sight Mr. President must realise the implications of the continued stay at home of students. ASUU on their part must be able to shift grounds. The govt must show a considerable level of concern. LET Dr. Jonathan act as one who is capable of resolving the impasse in a matter of days. ASUU must not be rigid too.
