ATTENTION!!! Important message regarding your emergency alert radio---- From the Natl Weather Service in Birmingham-- Birmingham NOAA Weather Radio transmitter repairs complete... The Birmingham NOAA Weather Radio transmitter...broadcasting on a frequency of 162.550 mhz...has been repaired and is back on the air at full power and at the proper height on the tower. Technicians completed the repairs late last evening...and are now checking the signal strength and coverage throughout the listening area. If you reprogrammed your NOAA Weather Radio receiver during the outage...you may now return the receiver to the Birmingham transmitter. Once you change back to the Birmingham transmitter we recommend checking your reception to ensure that the signal will be strong enough to activate the alarm feature on your radio. Due to the showers in the area today...we do not plan to conduct any special tests at this time. The next routinely scheduled weekly radio tests of all NOAA Weather Radio transmitters in the Birmingham forecast area are this Saturday at 11 am...and next Wednesday at 11 am. If weather prevents US from conducting these next tests...we will consider running a special for the Birmingham transmitter only once the weather permits US to. Thank you for your patience. We apologize for any inconvenience this reduction/outage has caused over the last few weeks.
