AUSTRIA IS DEPORTING TO DEATH Since September 2012, more than 60 - TopicsExpress

AUSTRIA IS DEPORTING TO DEATH Since September 2012, more than 60 refugees originated from different countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Morocco have been demonstrating for the last 10 months in a non-violent way in Vienna, struggling for their rights as human beings: right to work, right to be legal, right to live free of war and terror, hunger and misery. But the Austrian government and the European laws that this government obeys do not consider it. The refugees have been protesting in many different ways, with 2 months voluntary fasting, demonstrations and have also the support of the Austrian cardinal Christoph Schönborn. All this is not enough, is not enough because the Austrian government decided to deport tomorrow 8 of the refugees. The deportation means to them death, because they have criticised the Taliban regime. When they return, they will be put in jail, tortured. And, it is also possible, they will be killed. Are we concerned about this? The Austrian cardinal who is 10 thousand kilometres away from his country, at the World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro with the Pope, knows very well the situation of the refugees and this morning expelled a statement saying clearly stop the deportations and to free the refugees. He said also “"The rule of law and humanity cannot contradict each other." The cardinal continued: "I was shocked by the circumstances under which the action was performed: on a Sunday, the holy day of the Christians, and during Ramadan, the holy month of Muslims, when they are particularly weakened by their fast. After all that Pope Francis has said in recent weeks and months about our duty towards all those in need -- and is reaffirming these days before the youth of the world -- and especially after his solidarity visit to Lampedusa, this is a disappointing, sad day." Cardinal Schönborn concluded, "I ask the question, what role the upcoming elections have played in this action. And why is this action taking place at a time when I, who have fought for humane treatment of the refugees in the monastery, am 10,000 kilometres away in Rio de Janeiro?" We are asking all those people, individuals, groups, associations, who are not indifferent on the life of those people to send an e-mail to the Ministry of Interior of the Austrian government with this statement ([email protected]): "I am addressing You concerned about the expulsions that are ordered for 8 Pakistani people detained in Vienna. Those people have been demonstrating for the last 10 months in a non-violent way in Vienna, struggling for their rights as human beings: right to work, right to be legal, right to live free of war and terror, hunger and misery. Those people have been manifesting asking for a minimum of dignity for their living conditions in Europe, which are being refused systematically due to European laws and some economic reasons. We have known about the fact that those expulsions are going to be executed on July 29th 2013. In other deportations, the conditions in which they are realized are infrahuman and the return to their origin countries means death or jail or torture. That is why we want to express the deepest repudiation of Your actuation. We also want to inform You that the steps of Your Government are not only condemn within your borders but it’s known and repudiated in other countries. Basing our concern on human rights, we would like to ask Austrian Government to stop the deportations of Pakistani citizens, planned for forthcoming days. We appeal to the executives’ consciousness in order to prevent them from sending their brothers into the dead embrace of their countries of origin, governed by terrorist dictatorships. By the present card I would like to transmit You my deepest concern and repudiation of the whole situation. Sincerely, .... "
