About 25 years ago, I set out on a private quest to read every word ever written by William Shakespeare. Although the irony is that when I went to USC majoring in English Literature I had only read Macbeth and Hamlet. It would have done me a desperate lot of good to have read many of his other works prior to college. In those years since college I have been blessed to acquire many stunning narrations of the complete works of Shakespeare and I have used these to help along in my quest. Many a night I have laid in bed and listened to, and been wrapped within the mystical magical mind of Shakespeare via his landmark dramas. One film that I would highly suggest to anyone who would like a place to start with Shakespeare is the 1948 classic HAMLET starring Sir Laurence Oliver. From the opening ghost scene you are held captive. Oliviers performance won him a Best Actor Academy award in 1949. It was well deserved. I would urge anyone wanting to put their Shakespeare on ...to check out this widely available but oft ignored film.
