About to share with the world (aka Facebook) what a sentimental pussy I can be at times. I just noticed that an old high school buddy liked a recent paddling race photo of mine and I remembered a moment I havent thought about in a lot of years. It was our senior year in high school and we were riding back in his moms minivan from the PIAA state cross country championship and I was trying desperately not to let anyone in the van notice that I was crying because my 17 year old self thought it was the last race that I would ever run as part of a team, since we didnt qualify for nationals. Afterwards, I went on to run cross country and track in college, have been racing outrigger (off and on) for the last 12 years, and recently got to race as part of a national dragon boat team. Funny what 22 years of perspective will do for you. Gotta love sport. #marathonnotasprint
