Adapting a script (words on a page) to a finished film (images and sounds) is a long, elaborate process. Pre-production is spent planning, in detail, everything required to accomplish this before the cameras even start rolling. One of the more visual ways to do this is through storyboards. The director and the storyboard artist work together, planning individual shots and angles, to make sure that the visuals will work together to communicate the story and tone. The finished product is a bit like a rough comic book and shows you how the film will play out. Sometimes your shots match your storyboards perfectly, and other times you have to be more flexible, allowing for changes due to location, performance, or other concerns. On The Golden Cord, we were privileged to have the talented Amanda Ho as our storyboard artist. Here we have a collection of frame to storyboard comparisons.
