Afghanistan voted today in the first open and fair transition of democratic presidential power since before the Soviet invasion in the early 1970s. By all reports, voter turnout was heavy - including many women voters! Polls were supposed at close at 5:00pm - it is now 7:45pm and many polling stations are still full of voters who were in line prior to closing time. Light can turn back the darkness, if we unleash it!
