After 3 months of volunteering with EVP, my fellow volunteer, Megatronic Körberg , and I decided to initiate a mud cob housing project to finish the homes of local residents still struggling to make ends meet after Yolanda. Mud cob housing is a sustainable method of design used in ancient civilizations all over the world that offers people low cost building options using locally found natural materials. We chose to finish off the homes of former MedAir participants who each received a framed skeleton of a house with a roof but no walls. Thanks to fellow volunteer, Mud Master Mahiitosh Eguia, we now have experienced locals and volunteers who are practicing and reaping in the benefits of mud cob magic! We aim to finish the initial 10 households in the next 2 weeks!
