After a tit for tat political game in Mogadishu for the past one - TopicsExpress

After a tit for tat political game in Mogadishu for the past one month, the Somali prime-minister has finally succeeded to appoint and announce a largely inclusive cabinet; the new cabinet includes former ministers of the TFG, members of the recently failed cabinet as well as fresh faces. Political analysts view the new cabinet as well-balanced cabinet which fits to serve a sovereign nation that is trying to recover from twenty three years of devastating civil war, the new cabinet is a clear sign of a formal government which has all the required ministries for a country to be productive. The responsibility of the new cabinet is to lead this largely divided country through this difficult time to achieve security and economic stability by target date 2016. However, this cannot be achieved if the current political tradition continues to play its path. The executive leadership should stop the fighting in the inner cycle of government but should rather commit to their individual responsibilities and devote their energy to the betterment of common interest. The new cabinet if endorsed by the parliament should prioritize the following tasks to achieve free and fair elections by 2016: 1. Security: Building up strong armed forces and education system that can wage and win armed and ideological fight against extremism, spoilership and other forms of organized crimes in Somalia. Somali government must joint all its capacities and devote its resources to clean the country from the Islamic extremists administering a large proportion of the country and freely moving and operating in the government held towns. The culture of making up good looking stories should be ended and action taken. 2. Justice System: establishment of reliable and trustworthy justice structure which could not be possibly influenced by tribalism, bribery, political agenda, and security threats or any other situation in the line of their duties will motivate the citizens to trust the justice system and go for it rather than their handy guns or seeking help from their fellow clansman. Well educated and paid justice juries comprising of well-respected Islamic clerics must be established to run this task effectively. 3. Economic structure: Somalia has more than enough domestic resources which if effectively managed can make everybody rich contributing to reduction of extremism, hate and tribalism among the nation. Establishing and streamlining the sources of income is a job that a capable patriot should enjoy doing. Sharing the resources equally will resurrect trust and love among the hearts of all Somalis regardless of their geographical habitat of the map. 4. Constitution: finalizing the country’s constitution is of paramount importance as it is the basis for successes being targeted to be achieved by 2016 and onwards. 5. Federalism: Every village in Somalia is run by independent authorities who do not fall under the portfolio of the Somali government and this is because there is no agreed federalism style that could be collectively adopted by the to be states either existing or in the makeup. Decision makers and opinion leaders representing the whole country should agree an appropriate federalism style and start implementation immediately in line with the country’s constitution. 6. Education System: The country’s education system is very weak and unorganized with high illiteracy rates of the population, thus providing room for easy influence and brainwashing of the young un-educated generation by terrorists and other illegal groups. The youth are particularly risked to this factor and only high quality education system with streamlined curriculum and solid supervision providing free education throughout the country is a successful strategy These and a whole range of other task are awaiting the new cabinet, personalities play a major role in success, All Somalis must join hands to succeed and fabric propagandas incapacitating the moral of the government should be avoided but just positive feedback is encouraged. I suggest the new ministers plus their supervisors to spare senseless arguments on personalities and come-up with acceptable commitment. Thank You
