After reading many posts on my news-feed, it is quite evident many people are anticipating 2015. I’ve seen a plethora of posts stating how awful 2014 was and how 2015 will be the greatest yet. Interestingly, I’ve seen these kinds of posts year after year. Despite all the hype and emotionalism of transitioning into a new year, the greatest asset is who we are in Christ – for those of us who know Him. Despite our failings, setbacks, and sinfulness, let us continually return to the Lord Jesus Christ, remembering that His work alone satisfied God’s holy justice. It is through Him, in Him, by Him and for Him that we can stand (Romans 11:36), and our citizenship in Heaven is secured (John 10:27-29, Philippians 3:20). While goal setting is good and important, let us rest in the finished work of Christ, and pursue a life that will please and glorify Him in the power and enablement of the Holy Spirit. When this is our daily mandate, everything else will fall into place.
