After recent discoveries of stone spheres being integral part of sacred megalithic sites in Zavidovici municipality, another monument situated in the municipality of Olovo suggests the relationship between Visoko pyramids and the mysterious Bosnian stone spheres. The obelisk of Gornji Bakici is a stand-alone monument in the forests of the omonimous village. It holds among other sacred symbolism a pyramid and a 50 cm wide stone sphere on its top. Another curious feature of the obelisk is its perfect alignment with the four cardinal directions (N-S and E-W). Moreover, after careful measurements the southern side of the obelisk resulted pointing the Bosnian valley of the pyramids lying about 50 Km southward. Even if the obelisk has been officially classified belonging to the mediaeval period, today its exact age is not known. However, the symbolism present in the obelisk undoubtedly confirm that it played an important role for the people who lived here in the past and that such symbolism was an integral part of their culture and religious beliefs.
