After the Aaliyah biopic.. I had to wrestle with the question why does it matter if a bi- racial woman played her or not. I answered that question with my own existence. If I died tomorrow I would be an African American teacher that died. If I did something that changed the world, society will go back to my familiys way back heritage that I have no benefit of and attribute my success to that instead of me and the life Ive lived to my greatness. My legacy while meant to reflect those who look like me....live similar lives is valuable enough to affect everyone without a bio pic that lightens my skin. Jesus said salvation was for the Jews but honored a woman who said even a dog gets the crumbs off his masters table. #naturalhairisnotalwayscourseijs
