After the monstrous attacks on the satirical newspaper Charlie - TopicsExpress

After the monstrous attacks on the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo in France, many (in solidarity) have changed their profile pictures to Je suis Charlie But although I am saddened and still shocked, I did not coz as a Catholic, this magazine has mocked and insulted my belief and others too. Undoubtedly I clearly support Freedom of Speech but responsibly and respectfully. And thats why publishing cartoons depicting and ridicule religious figures like Prophet Mohammed, Jesus etc should not have been published. This hasnt just insulted billions of Muslims, Christians, Judaisms etc but it was provocation to those who are finding any excuse to terrorize the world. In no way am I condoning the killings of Charlie Hebdos staff. I honor and protect the free speech rights of publications like Charlie Hebdo but simultaneously believe such cartoons are unnecessarily disrespectful and offensive. Freedom of speech is the key to establish a true democracy. It is important for dialogue, criticism, acknowledging different opinions etc but it also has its limits. Besides, it is one thing depicting Pope Francis and another Jesus Himself.
