After the rain--and before. Lovely in any weather. A view that refreshes the spirit and lungs. On Hawk Hill in the Marin Headlands you can enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific, the Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, and Alcatraz. You can also watch for migrating raptors. About 200 to 250 birds are logged in each day. Most are redtailed hawks and turkey vultures but there are also many other species of raptors. We wont count Corvids like hawks and crows, which some folks group as raptors. In the first photo, there is a container ship making its way through the Golden Gate-- the passage toward the Bay for which the bridge was named. In the photos that follow, you can see the ship coming closer to the bridge. I am so lucky to live five minutes away. Why has it been five years since I last went up to Hawk Hill? Is it the same reason why I did not exercise--that I was too busy and could always do it another day. Today is that day--day after day after day.
