After thirty years of boycotting Christmas films, I was asked - TopicsExpress

After thirty years of boycotting Christmas films, I was asked twice this season to tell my favorite Christmas movie. True I had seen a couple, but not enough to make an informed decision. So, I made a pact with my kids to watch one Christmas movie every night for thirty days. I can hear some of you groaning now! It has been a fun and silly ride, but sadly, the number of Santa movies outweighs the number of Christmas ones. So, when a real Christmas movie finally hit our radar last night (with no mention of Santa or the North Pole), my daughter made a connection. “So, God is like Santa. And we’re his little elves!” “Sorta….” I said as I processed that. Shortly, it made perfect sense from her child’s perspective. God is someone who no one ever technically “sees”. His existence is hotly debated, and there are either believers or non-believers. He and his workers invest every day of the year in the children, and he gives good gifts when the timing is right. So how are we his elves? Are we the ones making His gifts? Yes! Daily, we bring into tangible form the love, kindness, patience and grace that reveal his true existence. Which of God’s gifts are you creating for those around you this week? From the screening room, Melinda Ledman linkd.in/XvJBQn
