Afternoon weather brief: Its getting complicated. Local: Should remain cloudy with a slight chance for rain through the next few days. As we near the weekend, things could change drastically. We are watching two areas: First: An area of disturbed weather in the Gulf that was basically written off by NHC yesterday, is back up to a 20% chance for development this afternoon. Some of that rain could move in late in the week. Second: TD#2 E (In the Eastern Pacific) has just been upgraded to Tropical Storm Boris. The cone takes it across the narrowest part of Mexico. This huge rain maker will cause mud and landslides there over the next few days. But if it survives and makes it into the Gulf of Mexico, it could provide extra rain for us down the road. Crossover systems are rare indeed. The last time that a Northeast Pacific system moved into the Atlantic basin was in June 1989 when Cosme became Allison. The bottom line is that these features may send a lot of rain our way and right now we are just playing the waiting game. ssd.noaa.gov/goes/east/gmex/rgb-animated.gif
