Agreement on common alternatives in the conflict regarding whether to divide Barmandi community forest or not of Doti District: The conflict between Brahmandi CFUG and Ladagada VDC - 5 and Pokhari - 3 regarding whether to divide the community forest or not has stepped into the implementation phase of conflict transformation with an agreement on the common alternatives. The joint meeting to pass the common alternatives has been held on November 22, 2014 at Sunadevi Higher Secondary School, Ladagada VDC-6. The meeting was held in the chairmanship of Dal Bahadur Majhi, elderly spider team member; chief guest was District Forest Officer, Pushpa Raj Birtaula; other guests in the program were Krishna Malashi, chairperson of FECOFUN, Doti; Arjun Karki, Regional Coordinator of NRCTC-N; Tilak Thapa, deputy DFO; Bhojraj Sharma, Silgudhi Ilaka Forest Officer; representatives from political parties such as Nepali Congress, CPN/UML, UCPN/Maoist etc., and representatives from various government and non-government bodies, media personnel also participated in the program. The program was hosted by NRP Lok Bahadur Thapa; spider team member, Nawaraj Pathak, gave a welcome speech; spider team member, Lal Bahadur Kadayat, presented the draft of common alternatives. Following are the points of agreement: 1. The operational plan of Brahmandi Community forest will be renewed for now without division. 2. The financial transactions of Brahmandi Community forest will be done transparently. 3. 25% of financial resource of Brahmandi Community Forest will be allocated for forest resource development, 35% will be divided equally among the parties to invest in income generating activities and the rest will be given to Sunadevi Higher Secondary School Ladagada-7 and Chaukhal Secondary School Ladagada 5 based on mutual understanding. 4. If found necessary, the Brahmandhi Community forest area will be divided while renewing its operational plan next time. 5. The executive committee of Brahmandhi Community forest will be inclusive, with equal representation from all parties. 6. While renewing the operational plan, the actual forest area of Brahmandhi Community forest will be identified through survey from forest technicians. 7. Improving relationship between users from various parties. 8. The spider team will monitor the implementation of agreement in Brahmandi Community forest for four years from now. District Forest Offficer, Pushpa Raj Birtaula thanked all facilitators for this success and committed to give full support for the implementation of agreed points. The program was ended on a positive note with commitment from representatives from government and non-government bodies to support in the successful implementation of the agreement.
