Justice Lameck Mukasa,I his ruling, noted that the evidence by the prosecution, indeed indicated that Ms Katusiime had stole the money in question. He cited the conversation between Ms Katusiime and her husband, Mr Akankwasa at CPS upon her arrest when she told him that she had banked part of the money in question with Kamwokya Christian Caring Community (SACCO). In his ruling, Justice Mukasa noted that evidence of the hand writing expert had showed that she had stolen the said money. On a lighter note, the same court, acquitted and set aside the one year jail term handed to two of Ms Katusiime’s co-convicts, David Sebuliba (businessman) and Maj. Godfrey Kyomuhendo. They had spent close to seven months at Luzira ever since their conviction in December last year. The judge cited contradicting evidence presented by the prosecution in the lower of City Hall as the ground to acquit the duo. The duo had been convicted for having kept part of the stolen money. The money that was stolen belonged to Mr Akankwasa and his brothers; Mr John Bagambe and Mr George Akankwasa. The trio on April 19 this year, appealed against the lower court’s judgment on grounds that Magistrate Juliet Hatanga of City Hall Court had erred in law and facts when she failed to properly evaluate the evidence during the trial that led to their conviction.
